MAI rescues 215 people in risky situations, with 17,000 operating crew members

The Internal Affairs Ministry (MAI)'s ranks, in cooperation with local authorities on Monday came to the rescue of 215 people in risky situations however, no serious situations that could not be managed in due time were recorded, informs MAI.

According to data centralised by MAI, the weather phenomena manifestations affected 10 counties (Bacau, Calarasi, Constanta, Covasna, Dolj, Giurgiu, Olt, Tulcea, Teleorman, Vrancea) and Bucharest municipality.

No closed border check points are signalled, but at the level of national roads and motor ways in Bulgaria, a tonnage threshold restriction is imposed (12.5 tonnes).

Nationwide, the energy supply for 841 consumers in a locality in Prahova county is cut off.

Among the situations that required intervention, MAI mentions that in Constanta county, a track-laying vehicle with a paramedic intervened to collect two one-year old twin girls with fever, who were rushed to a hospital in Mangalia.

The track-laying vehicle from the Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) Galati, dispatched to support ISU Constanta, alongside a SMURD team, collected a pregnant woman in labour in Calugareni locality. The patient arrived safely at the hospital.

Still in Constanta county, a track-laying vehicle form ISU intervened on Monday evening in order to save a hemorrhaging pregnant woman.

In Bucharest, the ISU BIF and DGPMB task forces are conducting a difficult mission at the crossroads of Odai belt Road with Bucharest-Targoviste avenue, where a 24-metre pole and 1 metre width of a banner is in danger of falling in the crossing area.

Throughout the day, the MAI task forces have come to the aid of the local authorities in order to unblock vehicles trapped because of the snow and the blizzard. Between Botoroaga and Mosteni localities, DJ 503, Teleorman county, as many as 17 automobiles (among which a mini-bus with eight minors), with approximately 25 people in them were trapped in the snow. An ISU crew took the children and transported them to a shelter, until the cars were released.

In Olt county, between Caracal and Cezieni localities, on DJ 651, eight automobiles were trapped and another 10 cars in Coteana locality. All the people involved were saved and did not require medical assistance.

In the counties under snowfall and blizzard warning, the Internal Affairs Ministry has in its service almost 17,000 crew members with over 7,500 technical capabilities.

The monitoring and coordination of the field situation is achieved through MAI's the National Centre of Integrated Leadership, completed with a IGSU task force, representatives within the Energy Ministry and the National Company for Road Infrastructure Management.
