Earthquake of 5.1 in the Southeastern Turkish Province of Adayman, Wounded People
Thirteen people were injured in an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, registered in the southeast Turkish district of Adayaman during the night. The earthquake has caused many material damage, Turkish CNN-Turk reported.
The tremor occurred at 3.34 o'clock at a depth of 7 kilometers, and the epicenter of the earthquake was in the area of the city of Samsat, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) informs.
According to the Istanbul-based seismological observatory, Kandilli, the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.4 on the Richter scale. According to Turkish TV NTV the wounded people are 18.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said today that there are no casualties after the earthquake, TASS reports.
Damage has been caused to a number of buildings. The government has begun work to assess damages and the need for relief, the prime minister said, quoted by NTV.
After the first earthquake eight secondary quakes were recorded with magnitudes between 1.4 and 2.7 on the Richter scale.
