ProRomania's Ponta: Provisions of law on pension increase must take effect on 1 January
Pro Romania has tabled an amendment to the draft law on pensions, which states that all provisions on pension increases should take effect on January 1, 2019 and calls on the MPs who formed the "Anti Dragnea Alliance" to support him, according to a Friday post on Facebook by Victor Ponta, the leader of this party and former social-democrat prime minister.
"The draft law on pensions has reached the Chamber of Deputies for debate and approval (it has already cleared the Senate with no amendments accepted)! The AAD (Anti Dragnea Alliance) was formed ad hoc in the Chamber of Deputies from: representatives of Pro Romania, PSD Deputies and minorities who disagree with the abuses of Dragnea and the Deputies of the opposition parties! AAD can now achieve a major success for all pensioners in their fight against the current Government. To this end, Pro Romania Deputies have tabled an essential amendment: all the provisions of the law regarding the pension increases should take effect on 1 January 2019. If there is money in the budget for the promises made by the Government, then it must be given away immediately - our parents and grandparents are entitled to immediately receive higher pensions to offset the huge inflation and increases in prices. If there is no money in the budget in 2019, then it certainly cannot be in 2021 (as promised after the elections). We do not have to accept for our parents and grandparents to be lied to and manipulated by a pack of thieves," Victor Ponta, leader of Pro Romania, wrote on his social network's page.
He added that the Government will issue an emergency ordinance postponing the entry into force of all the increases and benefits granted by the laws passed in 2017 and 2018.
"If they also want to adopt the law on pensions "on paper" just to lie to people and postpone its entry into force, the AAD Deputies must put up a fight! AAD has started since Wednesday a healing process of Parliament, by removing from office Dragnea and his acolytes. Now AAD has the opportunity to do something concrete (not just criticism and political struggle): to adopt this amendment to the pension law to support all Romanian pensioners and to expose all the dreadful lies of the Dragnea-Dancila Government," he mentioned.AGERPRES(RO - author: Dana Piciu, editor: Florin Marin; EN - author: Simona Iacob, editor: Maria Voican)
