Boyko Borisov 'Not Necessarily' PM If GERB Wins Vote

A former minister from center-right GERB has said her party does not rule out a scenario in which leader Boyko Borisov is not its PM-designate after the upcoming snap poll.

Lilyana Pavlova, who was Minister of Regional Development between 2011 and 2013 (taking over from Rosen Plevneliev after he assumed the President's office), told the Bulgarian National Radio the will of Bulgarian citizens should first be expressed prior to any party decisions.   

Pavlova is considered to be a key GERB member and was among the most active MPs from the opposition within the dissolved Parliament.

Boyko Borisov was Bulgaria's Prime Minister between 2009 and 2013.

Pavlova also commented on the discrepancies between GERB and the right-wing coalition Reformist Bloc, where mutual accusations of "backdoor games" allegedly jeopardizing the future of Bulgaria have been ongoing for weeks now.

In her words, the two parties should hold conversations and not slam each other using the media.

She added she could not understand the discord between GERB and the Reformist Bloc as they were from the same family and had similar political platforms.
