NSI: Bulgarians' Trips Abroad Increase 4.2% YoY in December 2018

In December 2018, Bulgarians made 478,400 trips abroad, 4.2% more than in the same month of the previous year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said. An increase was registered in the trips to Serbia, Turkey, Macedonia, Romania, Germany and Greece.
Compared with December 2017, an increase was registered in all monitored types of trips: trips with other purposes rose by 4.8%, followed by those for holiday and recreation and work trips, with an increase of 4.2% and 2.9%, respectively. The trips with other purposes (guest visits, education, cultural and sport events) accounted for 49.4% of all trips abroad, followed by holiday and recreation trips, with 27.6%.
In December 2018, the number of arrivals of foreign visitors in Bulgaria was 619,900, up 4% compared to a year earlier. The most visits were by citizens of Romania (136,800), Greece (105,000) and Turkey (94,400). A significant increase was registered in the visits from the UK, Germany, Italy, Romania and Poland.
