At least 40 Died in Shooting in Two Mosques in New Zealand

New Zealand police said they had detained four people in connection with the deadly shootings in the two mosques in Christchurch and had devastated several improvised explosive devices.
 
"Four are in custody, three men and one woman," said Commissioner Mike Bush, saying there are "many" victims.

According to local media, at least 40 people have died and 20 are hospitalized after the shooting in the two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Authorities view the case as a terrorist attack.

The city has also found several improvised explosive devices attached to cars. Christchurch residents are urged not to leave their homes, and authorities have called for all mosques to remain closed today.
 
Prime Minister Jasmine Ardren described what happened as "one of the darkest days in New Zealand's history." She herself confirmed that the shooting victims were 40 people.
