Deadline for submitting slates has expired

BELGRADE - The deadline expired at midnight for submitting slates for early parliamentary elections that will be held on March 16, and on the last day the national electoral commission (RIK) received eight lists.

The RIK has so far declared valid 12 electoral lists. If these eight slates prove valid, eligible voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballot for one of a total of 20 parties and coalitions.

In the last several hours before the deadline, the slates were submitted by: the Montenegrin Party, the List of National Communities-Emir Elfic, the Party for Democratic Action-Riza Haljimi, the Coalition of Citizens, Peoples and National Communities of the Slovak Democratic Party and the Ruthenian Democratic Party, the Russian Party, the slate titled "Enough of That" led by former minister of economy Sasa Radulovic, Patriotic Front- Borislav Prelevic and the party "None of the Above".

The deadline for submitting electoral lists for members of the Belgrade City Assembly also expired at midnight, and the city electoral commission received a total of 25 lists. Seventeen slates have been declared valid up to this point.

On the election day, 6, 767,324 people will be eligible to cast their ballot in Serbia, and 1, 597,503 in local elections in Belgrade, according to the electoral roll that the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration concluded on Friday evening.
