RIK grants observer status to international delegations
BELGRADE - The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) issued an approval for monitoring the work of bodies in charge of parliamentary elections on March 16 to the delegation of the Central Electoral Commission of the Russian Federation, diplomats of the Bulgarian Embassy and a delegation of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Two observers from the Russian Electoral Commission and the Bulgarian Embassy each were granted the observer status and the title was also granted to seven members and one translator of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly.
The diplomats of the Bulgarian Embassy will be included in the observer mission of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
RIK President Dejan Djurdjevic confirmed that the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) filed criminal charges against the president and members of the Commission who took part in the adoption of the Instructions for the implementation of the parliamentary elections in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) and submitted the request to the Constitutional Court to annul the instructions by urgent procedure.
SRS noted that the instructions for the implementation of elections in the territory of KiM constitute a gross violation of the Constitution and the Law on Appointment of MPs as these make room for major electoral frauds.
SRS believes that the Instructions do not treat Kosovo as a part of Serbia and that the control of electoral list submitters is cancelled as it was decided that the votes of Kosovo Serbs will not be counted at the electoral places after the polls as is the case in other parts of Serbia and would instead be transported to Raska and Vranje, southern Serbia.
