MAE: Six Romanians killed, two injured in road accident in Italy
Six Romanian nationals were killed and two were injured in a road accident on a motorway in Italy, the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) reported in a press release on Saturday.
According to the release, two motor vehicles collided on Saturday morning on the Italian A1 motorway between Collefero and Valmontone, one carrying Romanian nationals and the other presumably Moroccan nationals.
The consul of the Romanian Embassy in Rome went to the scene. According to the consul, five adult Romanians died on impact, one Romanian minor died after being rushed to a hospital in Tivoli, while two Romanians were injured and rushed to different hospitals. They were all travelling in a tourist bus.
The other vehicle involved, also a tourist bus, was carrying presumably Moroccan nationals.
MAE reports that the Romanian consul is staying in touch with the Italian Police for additional information for details on the identities of all the victims. A consular team was also dispatched to the hospitals where the injured Romanian nationals were.
At the Romanian Embassy in Rome, a consular team was set up to manage the case and provide consular assistance to the families of the deceased and injured.
The Romanian Interior Ministry on Saturday reported that Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea demanded the interior affairs attache of Romania in Italy and other consular officials to provide assistance to the Romanians injured in the accident and the families of the deceased. AGERPRES
