Djilas: DS will be strong opposition in parliament
BELGRADE - Democratic Party (DS) leader Dragan Djilas congratulated on Sunday the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) on its victory in the parliamentary election and said the DS would be a strong opposition in the parliament.
He did not wish to comment on events during the campaign, explaining that it was neither the time nor the place for such things, but that the time would come "when we will have to look ourselves in the mirror and see who has done what."
"My wish for the people is for the SNS to live up to its promises given to the people," Djilas said at the DS headquarters.
However, he believes that none of the promises will be fulfilled by the next government.
One of the reasons for such an election result is the fact that the opposition is so divided, Djilas stated.
The DS's job now is to do everything to unite the civil forces in Serbia behind it, Djilas pointed out.
The DS will fight for democracy in Serbia, just like in the last 20 years, and it will be the strongest opposition party in the parliament and criticize everything that "steers Serbia towards what we have warned about," Djilas said.
