PM Ponta on EADS case file: Basescu confirms corruption in Romania-Germany relationship

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said Friday that he is worried by President Traian Basescu's recent allegations about the EADS case file, which in his opinion confirms the existence of corruption in the relationship between Romania and Germany.

'Because it is a case file on the docket of the Prosecution Office, I can in no way talk about it. The fact that Mr Basescu talks about it is illegal and totally wrong. What worries me most is that Mr Basescu attests to corruption in the relationship between Romania and Germany, something I cannot do. I believe that should be treated with full prudence. The fact that Germans are corrupted as well is something you should tell to the propaganda service (...) But when we talk about governmental relations, I believe we should be serious and rational and that is why you will never hear me commenting on pending court files,' Ponta said at the Government House.
