Greek stocks see significant gains on thin trading
The Greek bourse bucked the trend set by most other European stock markets on Monday, enjoying healthy gains, albeit on thin turnover.
With the third-quarter results edging closer for most listed companies, observers consider encouraging the fact that the benchmark closed the session on the days high.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended yesterday at 939.25 points, adding 2.56 percent to Fridays 915.83 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded 2.62 percent to 307.11 points.
GEK Terna led large-caps with 8.82 percent growth, with Terna Energy adding 8.73 percent.
Eurobank was the only blue chip to drop, losing 1.81 percent.
In total 79 stocks posted gains, 32 sustained losses and 16 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 64.5 million euros, down from last Fridays 124.1 million.
