Vucic: We do not have to love each other but respect a must
ZAGREB - Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Aleksandar Vucic has said that the Croatia-Serbia genocide case before the International Court of Justice in The Hague has created high tensions but that he believes that the two countries will find a solution.
Serbia and Croatia have bigger problems now, particularly economic ones, Vucic told Croatia's HTV, adding that they include the railway line between Belgrade and Zagreb as well as some other issues.
We do not have to love each other, but we must respect each other. That is the key to all relations in the region. Those who do not understand this are neither mature, serious people, nor they are responsible for senior duties in Serbia, Vucic said commenting on Serbian-Croatian relations after his party won a landslide victory in Sunday's early parliamentary elections in Serbia.
Vucic said that he wanted the mutual genocide lawsuits to be withdrawn and said that he believes that there will be enough common sense, adding that Serbs and Croats have other, more pressing troubles at this time.
Serbia will not be hiding murderers and it expects the same from Croatia, Vucic said.
Asked when he plans to visit Zagreb, Vucic said that economic matters significant to both countries will be addressed.
