Businessman Beko in stable condition

BELGRADE - Businessman Milan Beko (53) is in a stable condition and his postoperaive recovery is going well, director of the Clinical Center of Serbia Miljko Ristic said on Monday.

It is difficult to make any prognoses but so far there are no signs to indicate the risk of developing complications, Ristic told Tanjug.

Beko is in a stable condition, he is conscious, alert, and able to speak with the medical team, Ristic said.

Beko was shot in the stomach and chest outside his house at Dedinje, around 5 p.m. on November 14, and rushed to surgery at the Emergency Center.

Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said on Monday that some progress has been made in the investigation into the attempted murder of Milan Beko.

The forensic crime scene analysis is to be completed during the day, Stefanovic told reporters, noting that, based on preliminary assessments, police experts believe that the perpetrators are not professional assassins. The minister added that the investigation into possible motives for the attack is being approached from several directions.
