Mihajlovic: Serbia is stable partner
VIENNA - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said in Vienna on Monday that Serbia is a stable partner and wishes to have an even more active role in the future, especially in energy, infrastructure and transport interconnections.
The main message voiced during the Monday meeting of the Central European Initiative (CEI) is that regional cooperation is a priority for all countries in the Western Balkans, Mihajlovic told Tanjug upon conclusion of the summit.
We also discussed the steps taken by each country in the previous period, and Serbia has really done a lot over the past six months since it adopted a set of reform laws, which is a step ahead in terms of economic reforms, she said.
Mihajlovic noted that the message voiced during the CEI summit is that everything needs to be done so as to increase employment, especially among the young.
During the meeting in Vienna, the officials also adopted a declaration on stronger, more intensive and more efficient regional cooperation, she said.
The declaration also covers energy safety and new interconnections relevant to new corridors which will be discussed in the next few months, Mihajlovic said and added that if people are connected and adequate infrastructure exists, it is much easier to find new jobs.
At the invitation by Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann, top government officials from CEI countries gathered in Vienna on Monday, including Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic.
