Bucharest-Amman TAROM flight returns without passengers due to crew exceeding legal rest time

A TAROM flight between Bucharest and Amman returned on Sunday to Bucharest with no passengers aboard due to the crew exceeding the legal rest time after the flight was diverted due to unfavorable conditions in the Jordanian capital.

According to a release of the company remitted on Sunday, flight TAROM RO 187 Bucharest ? Amman on Sunday was diverted to another airport, Marka International Airport, due to the unfavorable weather conditions on the Queen Alia airport of Amman. The aircraft was then scheduled to return to Bucharest as flight TAROM RO 188.

"The 38 passengers that had to return to Bucharest on RO 188 Amman-Bucharest were at airport Queen Alia when they were informed by the sales agent representing TAROM on the Jordanian market of this situation. Given the transfer time of passengers from one airport to another, as well as the lengthy security procedures, the TAROM crew of RO 188 has exceeded the legal rest time. For this reason the aircraft returned to Bucharest carrying no passengers aboard", TAROM mentions.

According to the quoted source, the sales agent on the local market with which TAROM has a commercial contract will redirect the passengers to Bucharest, using flights operated by other companies.

"We regret the situation caused, yet the priority of the TAROM company is to offer its passengers safe trips. We will return with details regarding the situation of the Amman ? Bucharest flight after the sales agent will draw up a detailed report regarding the situation of the 38 passengers", the quoted release also shows. AGERPRES
