President Iohannis meets representatives of the Romanian Academy, on Wednesday

President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday is set to receive at the Cotroceni Palace the members of the Romanian Academy Presidium.

The head of the state said he wanted at the meeting with the representatives of the Romanian Academy to know the opinion of such prestigious people with great professional experience about Romania's prospects in the long run.

"The best solutions cannot be found but through dialogue. No matter how much concern we have for the present, we can't build anything strong unless we know how would we like Romania to be 10 or 15 years from now. We need a comprehensive approach to include all fields of activity for a common country project,' the President wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

Established by law on March 30, 1879, as a national institution, the Romanian Academy had three large departments: the literary department: literature, art, philology and philosophy; the history department: history, geography and social sciences; the scientific department: theoretical and applied sciences.

During its 130 years of existence, the Romanian Academy gathered great personalities from all scientific fields (philology, history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geonomics, technical, agricultural, forestry sciences, medical etc.), literature or art, representatives of the religious cults, army and political life.

A tough moment in the history of the Academy was when the Decree of June 9, 1948, was issued regarding its transformation into the Academy of the People's Republic of Romania.
