Davenport: Arrangement with IMF good signal to investors

BELGRADE - Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport has said that Serbia's new arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a good signal and a positive message to all potential investors and partners of Serbia.

It is a great encouragement for the Serbian government and Prime Minister Vucic and a strong, positive signal for the implementation of reforms, Davenport said for state-run Radio Belgrade I.

The IMF has its own requirements, but what matters is that they match the plans of the Serbian government and the arrangement would not have been possible had the government not pursued a consequent policy, he said.

On Monday, the IMF Executive Board approved a three-year EUR 1.2 billion stand-by arrangement for Serbia, which, at the request of the Serbian authorities, will be treated as precautionary.
