Vucic, Schroeder over constitution of Serbia-Germany Forum

BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will meet with former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in Belgrade on Thursday to mark the initiation of operation of the Serbia-Germany Forum, the Forum announced on Monday.

On this occasion, Vucic as the honorary guest of the Forum and Schroeder as the Forum guest will discuss deepening of bilateral cooperation and improvement of Serbia-Germany relations.

The newly-founded forum will focus on the perspectives of economic and political cooperation between the two countries.

Schroeder currently holds office as the Chairman of the Board of Shareholders in the Nord Stream AG which owns the Nord Stream.

As of 2006, he has been active in the Rothschild Group as the advisor for operation in Eastern Europe, Russia, China and Turkey.

He recently warned against the dangers of isolation of Russian President Vladimir Putin over the crisis in Ukraine.

Schroeder brought his stand on the issue of Russia and the Crimea crisis in connection with the bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999.

We sent our aircraft to Serbia and bombed a sovereign country together with NATO, without the resolution of UN Security Council, Schroeder said and added that this is why he is cautious when it comes to pointing fingers at anyone.

Current German Chancellor Angela Merkel voiced open reserves concerning the introduction of economic sanctions for Moscow which somewhat reduced diplomatic pressures on countries which decide to voice such a stand.

Schroeder held office as the chancellor of Germany in the period from 1998 to 2005.
