20 new ambassadors to be appointed in months to come
BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic announced on Friday that 20 new ambassadors and six new consuls would be appointed in the months to come.
There were many positions that were not filled in the previous period, Dacic said at a session of the Serbian parliament Foreign Affairs Committee during which he presented the report on the Foreign Ministry's work. Four ambassadors have been appointed over the past eight or nine months, and it is our goal to appoint 20 new ambassadors and six new consuls in the months to come, he stated.
Dacic noted that active efforts are being invested to this end and added that the best possible solutions need to be revised.
He said that the goal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to work on reforming the diplomacy and further professionalisation, the prerequisite for which is embodied in the adoption of a new law on foreign affairs.
