Meeting Between Zelensky and Modi in Ukraine on August 23
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss their countries’ relations and multilateral cooperation during Modi’s visit to Kyiv on Friday, August 23, following an invitation from Zelensky.
“This is the first visit by an Indian head of government to our country in the history of our bilateral relations,” states the announcement from Zelensky’s office on Telegram.
This will be the first visit by an Indian leader to Ukraine since the start of the war with Russia in early 2022 and the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kyiv in 30 years.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs highlights that New Delhi firmly supports dialogue and diplomacy for resolving the crisis in Ukraine. However, India maintains close diplomatic and trade relations with Russia, which it has not altered since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
