Senator Antonescu regarding Constitution amendment: I didn't understand why PNL is still thinking

"The story about the number of MPs. The fact that the Constitution in force does not allow for less than 400 was invoked... That is so, but the Constitution can be changed. In this regard, to be perfectly honest, I didn't understand why PNL, as long as Ponta and the PSD [Social Democratic Party] said 'what we have worked maintains our vision', why the PNL is still thinking, what are they thinking about. (...) For this Constitution and in this regard a majority can be formed," said Antonescu at private broadcaster B1TV.

Liberal Senator Crin Antonescu stated, on Saturday, that he does not understand why the National Liberal Party (PNL) is "still thinking" when it comes to amending the Constitution.

On the other hand, the former Liberal head also referred to the single-ballot election of mayors, deeming the maintaining of this system as "criminal," and stating his belief that it will have graves consequences than the fact that there is not enough representativity.

"The maintaining of the current power structure has consequences in party organization, however much you change the finance and functioning laws," said Antonescu. AGERPRES
