‘Zambia’ trends supreme for Greek Twitter users — See why!
The radical leftist government’s decision to request that it “bundle” payments to the IMF generated a firestorm on social media on Thursday, with the word “Zambia” trending first in Greece through much of the evening on Twitter.
The reason was that while not an unprecedented measure, as FT reports, the last country to employ the tactic was far-off … Zambia — and that was in the 1970s. Since then, the southern African country has been a model for good government and economic growth amongst its African peers.
