250 immigrants moved to Elaionas facility (exclusive pics)

The relocation of 200 hundred immigrants and refugees (a drop in the ocean compared to the large flows coming into Greece) from Pedio tou Areos to the newly set up lodgings at the Elaionas facility, situated western of Attica was completed Sunday. According to sources nearly 250 illegal immigrants ‘fled’ just before the transport operation to Votanikos started.

The immigrants will be housed in specially adapted container-houses, which have already been furnished and installed with air-conditioning, while reports say they will even have wi-fi! They will be catered with food daily, while a special playground for children has been created in the facility and a large area of gathering under the shade for adults.

Ten fire brigade vehicles worked night and day for the completion of the facility in Elaionas, which was selected recently. Priority for living in the new container-houses was given to women, children and families in order to remove them from the hazardous health conditions at the Pedion tou Areos area where tents were strewn on the sidewalks of the streets.

It should be noted that most of the illegal immigrants and refugees landed in Greece via Turkey since the start of July. Immigration Minister Tasia Christodoulopoulou, who had come under harsh criticism over her absence of ideas during the height of the crisis made an appearance.
