Govt loses one vote – down to 154 after ANEL MP N. Nikolopoulos states dissent

Independent Greeks (ANEL) MP Nikos Nikolopoulos announced his rejection of eight of the prior actions. He announced that he would vote to the measures in principle because he feels bound by the recent popular mandate. He states however, he will not say “YES TO ALL”, differentiating his position from a number of his colleagues who admitted that they disagree with a number of measures but will vote in favor of them nonetheless.

He states that he will not vote for 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 14 and 15 because of the huge weight that these would bring to citizens. “I believe that these legislative clauses are different to our initial commitments,” he said, adding that he would never vote for an increase to VAT for farmers, penalization of failure to pay debt or the tightening of parameters for the debt settlement in 100 installation.
