Syrian baby dies on flight in Turkey before deportation for ISIL links

A five-month-old Syrian baby has died on a Turkish Airlines flight from the southeastern province of Gaziantep to Istanbul, ahead of deportation with his mother to France over alleged links to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The heart of the five-month-old, identified as Muhammed al-Amin Mahiev, stopped on the flight early on Jan. 6, after Turkish authorities decided to deport his mother with a police escort to France.

The baby had already died when the plane landed at Istanbul's Atatürk Airport at 9:55 a.m. on Jan. 6. Medical treatment from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHM?) was unable to save Mahiev after the plane landed in Istanbul.

It has been reported that he was sick before boarding the plane.
