India offers flood relief aid to Serbia

BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic met on Wednesday with India's Ambassador to Serbia Narinder Chauhan, who informed her that India had decided to provide USD 100,000 as aid for the flooded regions in Serbia.

Chauhan expressed her sympathy to Gojkovic over the loss of human life in the floods, the parliament information office has stated.

India is often hit by floods, Chauhan pointed out and offered expert and technical assistance from India's specialized agencies in dealing with the aftermath of the disaster.

Gojkovic thanked the Indian ambassador for the aid and stressed that it was of great help to Serbia as it entered the struggle to repair the country, after the battle to save lives, which had been fought the week before.

The two also discussed ways of improving the cooperation between the two nation's parliaments, as well as the countries' economic, scientific and cultural cooperation.

Gojkovic informed Chauhan about the advantages of investing in Serbia and invited Indian investors to invest in Serbia even more.
