A breakdown of the data concerning the taxation of freelance professionals published by Kathimerini on Sunday shone the spotlight on another year of widespread tax evasion.

A bonus of up to 3,000 euros is promised to taxpayers who identify tax dodgers by scanning receipts through the "appodixi" cellphone app and discovering that it is either not genuine or has not been forwarded to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).

The supply of data to tax authorities from digital platforms on the sale of goods and services has already been implemented in Greece in recent years.

From January 1 next year Greeks will have to pay 3 cents for lightweight plastic bags such as those currently given away at supermarkets and other stores. The charge will rise to 0.07 euros from January 1, 2019.
