16-year-old injured in Nea Filadelfia after utility pole collapses

A 16-year-old girl was injured when a utility pole fell in the Nea Filadelfia district of Athens on Wednesday. The victim was transported by ambulance to Aglaia Kyriakou Children's Hospital.

Initial reports indicate that the pole collapsed after being struck by a trolley bus on Fokon Street. The exact circumstances of the accident remain unclear.

Patients return to children’s hospital after Attica blaze 

Children evacuated from Paidon Hospital in Penteli last week as a large wildfire swept through northeastern Attica returned on Monday, a Greek minister said.

The hospital resumed normal operation at 8 a.m. after undergoing thorough cleaning and disinfection, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on a post on X (former Twitter).

Orthrus arrives in Greece as influenza cases drop

The new offshoot of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 known as Orthrus (CH.1.1) has arrived in Greece, according to the National Public Health Organization's (EODY) weekly epidemiological report. 

It said a total of 93 cases have been detected. What's more, cases of the dangerous Kraken subvariant (XBB.1.5) are increasing slowly, with seven cases identified so far. 

Olympia Group donates medical, tech equipment to fight Covid-19

The Olympia Group, founded by Panos Germanos, has donated medical and technological equipment valued at two million euros to the ministries of education and health, to assist in the fight against Covid-19.

The donation will be made through the Group's subsidiaries, Public- MediaMarkt and Sunlight.
