Police investigate shooting incident in Thessaloniki

Greek police is searching for the suspect in the shooting of a man in Thessaloniki early Tuesday morning.

The 25-year-old victim was near the cemetery of the Pylaia municipality in the south part of the city at around 1 a.m. when he was shot by an unknown perpetrator. 

He was admitted to the AHEPA hospital for treatment. It was not clear how serious his injury was.  

Thessaloniki: Man arrested for shooting another man in genitals

Police in Thessaloniki arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of shooting a 29-year-old man, whom he suspected of having an affair with his partner, in the testicles.

The man was arrested in the western district of Dendropotamos after they received an emergency call about a man being shot.

Delivery worker in pretrial custody over beating death

A 27-year-old delivery worker has been remanded into pretrial custody on charges of manslaughter through grievous bodily harm in the northern port city of Thessaloniki over the death of a man, aged 50, during a physical altercation.

Testifying before an investigating magistrate on Thursday, the suspect said he did not intend to kill the victim, who, he claimed, "started the fight."

50-year-old man assaulted by delivery worker dies

A 50-year-old man has passed away after being assaulted by a 27-year-old delivery worker on Agia Sofia pedestrian street, located in the heart of Thessaloniki, northern Greece.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the 50-year-old confronted the 27-year-old individual for riding his motorcycle on the pedestrian walkway.

Thursday Covid-19 death toll raised to four

Two elderly women from a retirement home in northern Greece who where among the 33 of the 150 residents and three staff members who had tested positive for Covid-19 died on Thursday, bringing the daily death toll to four.

The 88-year-old woman was being treated in Thessaloniki's AHEPA hospital and the 91-year-old was in Papanikolaou Hospital.
