Bulgaria Considers to Replace Russian MiG-29s With F-16 Jets

In June 2018 Bulgarian Parliament approved a plan to spend around $2 billion on its Air Force modernization. It planned to purchase 16 fighter jets to replace its existing air fleet of MiG-29s.

"A new F-16 is a much better aircraft than all the others available," Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov said on December 14.

Sappers Destroyed a Bomb Found in the Center of Sofia

Specialized teams from the Land Force and Air Force teams transported the World War II air defense bomb, the Defense Ministry said.

It was discovered during excavation works for the new metro in the area of "Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev" Boulevard in the capital.

Specialized teams have detonated the aviational bomb in Slivnitsa. During the detonation, 2.5 kg of trotyl is used.

Bulgarian Defense Minister: Working Group will Study Offers for New Fighter Jets by October 19

Sofia. By October 19, a working group will analyse the proposals and will assess if they meet Bulgaria's requirements, in the meantime it may request further clarification from the bidders, Minister of Defence Krasimir Karakachanov told bTV regarding the opened offers in the competition for the supply of fighters.
