The restoration of the historic statue of Frederios Venizelos at the Greek Embassy in Washington has been completed. The initiative for the restoration of the historic statue was taken by the Venizelos Foundation’s US Branch.

The American Embassy in Athens and the Consulate in Thessaloniki and all US government offices in Greece will be closed on Monday on the occasion of Memorial Day federal holiday in the United States.

The day commemorates the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces.
