Turkey's home appliance sales and exports soared in the first quarter of this year, according to a sectoral group head.

"In January-March, our sales and exports increased 40 percent and 26 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year," said Can Dinçer, head of the White Goods Manufacturers' Association of Turkey (TÜRKBESD) on April 20.

Turkey is set to introduce a new system to increase the data quality in tracking suspicious transactions, in line with efforts to boost the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing, senior officials announced on April 26. 

Some 52 billion Turkish Liras ($14.3 billion) in loans and credit card debts were restructured in Turkey in September 2016, said the head of a top sector association, adding that this was a huge figure and that the sector achieved a great success by implementing the restructuring.

Turkish construction companies' projects in foreign countries plummeted dramatically in the first half of 2016 due to problems in the country's main markets, according to a new report by the Contractors' Association of Turkey (TMB), daily Dünya reported on Sept. 20.

Ziraat Bank CEO Hüseyin Ayd?n said foreign hackers recently launched a number of cyber-attacks against Turkish banks by creating e-mail traffic.
