The Higher School of Performing Arts is coming – Admission via special exams

The draft bill for the establishment of the Higher School of Performing Arts (HSPA) will soon be open for public consultation and feedback, as recently announced by Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

Rouge D Femme | Athens | January 24

The Canadian short documentary film "Rouge D 4 Femme" (Red D 4 Woman) by Nadia Fortin will be screened at the Athens School of Fine Arts' theater as part of the Athens Video Dance Project festival on Friday, January 24. The film tells the story of Josee Delorme, a woman suffering from cerebral palsy who has created her own form of communication to express herself.

Platforms Project | Athens | May 16-19

Serving as an incubator for emerging artists, this year's edition of the Platforms Project is the biggest to date, presenting 60 platforms from 17 countries at the Nikos Kessanlis Exhibition Hall of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) along with a diverse parallel program of talks and meetings, video screenings, children's programs, performances and parties.

In "Broken History," on show at the Byzantine and Christian Museum, painter and Athens School of Fine Arts professor Pavlos Samios explores how time affects history in a series of works on cardboard that juxtapose ancient art with street art, the past and the present. The show will open at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 15. Visiting hours are Wednesdays to Mondays from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Yiannis Stefanakis | Hania | To April 8

Cretan-born Yiannis Stefanakis studied painting, engraving, hagiography and book art at the Athens School of Fine Arts. The exhibition "Yiannis Stefanakis - A Journey to Utopia," curated by art critic Peggy Kounenaki at the Municipal Art Gallery of Hania, presents concepts and techniques defining the work of this productive artist.
