Officer hands over service weapon after unexplained absence
A police officer who disappeared for several hours on Tuesday in a patrol car without explaining his absence to his superiors was forced to hand over his service weapon after returning to Attica's police headquarters later the same day.
Two members of anarchist group Rouvikonas detained
Two members of anarchist group Rouvikonas were brought in for questioning at Attica's police headquarters on Thursday, after policemen saw about 10 people acting suspiciously outside the Austrian embassy in Athens' Kolonaki district.

Attica officers' union says shortcomings let DIAS unit down in armed robber chase
The union representing Attica's police officers on Thursday condemned what it said was an antiquated and essentially useless wireless communications system that left members of the Greek Police's (ELAS) DIAS motorcycle unit without support during an armed robbery and chase in a northern suburb of Athens on Wednesday.
N17 convict Xeros gets more time for defense on prison breakout plan
November 17 convict Christodoulos Xeros was on Friday given additional time, until next Thursday, to give evidence regarding his failure to return from a prison furlough last year and his alleged plan to help members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire guerrilla group break out of Attica's high security prison last December.
