The Bulgarian State Agency for National Security (SANS) has confirmed that no communication devices, like those used in the September 17 explosions in Lebanon and Syria, were imported, exported, or produced in Bulgaria. This conclusion was reached after a thorough investigation involving multiple agencies.

The Bulgarian State Agency for National Security (SANS) anticipates that the intensity of threats against national security will persist throughout 2024, as outlined in a report published on the agency's website.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revoked the accreditation of Alexander Gatsak, a correspondent for "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" (Российская газета), in a move that has triggered significant tensions. The decision, which lacks a clear explanation, also involved threats of extradition, as reported by the newspaper's press service and cited by BTA.

The Bulgarian State Agency for National Security (SANS), the country's counterintelligence and counterterrorism service, deported 95 foreigners in 2018, according to its annual report released on Thursday, reports Xinhua. 

Fifteen of those expelled were associated with terrorist activities, the report said.

Cooperation in security, rule of law and the fight against terrorism are said to be on the agenda of FBI director James Comey and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov as the two are set to meet in Sofia.

Three people were arrested in Italy and four in Bulgaria in an operation aimed at intercepting a Bulgarian credit card fraud ring, according to Europol.

The arrests of the seven suspects last week were the result of an investigation of over one year.

One of the two Bulgarians arrested in Bulgaria for card fraud in the US, remains in custody, the other is released under home arrest, ruled the Sofia City Court. 

Mihail Petrov was released because he suffers from cerebral palsy and has clean police record, while Radoslav Pavlov is in good health and, though he also has clean record, will remain in custody for at least 60 days. 

Sixteen Bulgarians have been arrested during a special FBI operation in the United States for money laundering and credit card fraud worth millions of dollars.

Around 30 people were arrested in Chicago and its suburbs as a part of a special operation to crack down on an organized crime group, the Bulgarian International Television (BIT) reported, cited by Dir.bg.
