The death toll in a powerful wind storm that has been pounding Turkey's northwest region, including Istanbul, for a while has increased to five, the country's health minister has said, adding that 63 people have been injured so far.

Turkey's leading business organizations have strongly condemned and expressed sorrow over a deadly terror attack in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri early on Dec. 17, which left at least 14 soldiers killed and 56 people wounded.

Democracy is our lifeblood and whatever the conditions are, we will stand by it, said Doğan Holding Honorary Chairman Aydın Doğan in an associations' federation meeting he attended on Nov. 20 in his hometown Gümüşhane in the northern Black Sea region. 

Turkey’s leading business group has noted its worry over the divergence in perception between Turkey and the European Union, adding that there was "no alternative" to joining the bloc to guarantee a secular and pluralist democracy.
