The 9th Thessaloniki International Symposium continues on Monday with its second public debate. The theme is "Global Recession and the Greek Economy."

The event features the head of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial research (IOBE), Nikos Vettas, and the director of the Center for European Policy Studies, Daniel Gros.

National and cyber security, European policy on migration and asylum, the future of Greece and Portugal after their bailouts, the risks to European unity regional governance, baking in Europe and the balance of power in the Middle East are among the many interesting topics that are being addressed on Day 2 of the Delphi Economic Forum running through Sunday near the ancient sanctuary on Mount P

The Italian government elected this summer has a number of similarities with the SYRIZA-Independent Greeks coalition that came into office in Greece in early 2015 and jolted the eurozone with its apparently defiant policy that led to a three-week shutdown of the country's banks, the imposition of strict capital controls, a divisive referendum and a fresh bailout program worth 86 billion euros.

Turkish professor Hüseyin Ba?c?, an academic from the International Relations Department of Ankara's Middle Eastern Technical University (ODTÜ), was awarded with Badge of the Austrian Decoration of Honor for Science and Art on Jan. 13.

FM attends foreign policy screening meeting

BELGRADE -- First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić is in Brussels on Friday where he will take part in a foreign policy screening meeting.

He will also give a lecture on Serbia's European integration.
