North Macedonia president sees no violation of name deal

The newly elected president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska, says that she does not believe she violated the Prespa Agreement with Greece when she referred to her country as "Macedonia" at her inauguration earlier this month, while going on to accuse Greece of failing to uphold the terms of the 2018 name deal.

Sakib Mahmuljin, the former commander of the Third Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, was sentenced by the Appeal Chamber of the State Court in April to eight years in prison for crimes committed in 1995 in Vozuca and Zavidovici.

But he is not serving his jail sentence and is instead undergoing medical treatment in Turkey, his lawyer confirmed to BIRN. 

Pay structure in public sector still not unified

Almost three years after legislation was passed to create a unified pay structure in the public sector, many discrepancies still exist in the salaries civil servants receive.

In October 2011 the government approved a law introducing an across-the-board wage system with the aim of reducing salary costs and eliminating numerous inequalities.
