Central Bank intervenes in ‘unhealthy’ FX pricing

The Turkish Central Bank intervened in foreign exchange markets for a third time this month on Dec. 10, citing "unhealthy price formations."

"The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey directly intervenes in the market via selling transactions due to unhealthy price formations in exchange rates," said the bank.

Turkey Bans Cryptocurrency Use for Payments

The Turkish central bank (also known as CBRT or TCMB) has issued "Regulation on the Disuse of Crypto Assets in Payments." It was published Friday in the official newspaper of the Turkish government.

The central bank also announced Friday that "studies on the regulation regarding the disuse of crypto assets in payments have been completed."

Turkish Central Bank revises reserve requirements

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) on Nov. 27 revised its regulations on reserve requirements to improve the effectiveness of the monetary transmission mechanism in the country.

In line with its main objective of price stability through monetary tightening, the bank decided to simplify its reserve requirement regulations, it underlined in a written statement.
