The spokesperson of Turkey's main opposition party has said Turkey needs a new constitution bearing civil liberties, unlike the current one, which was made after the country's 1980 military coup.

The Justice and Development Party (AKP), holder of the caretaker government, has decided to suspend holding election rallies until Oct. 16 in the aftermath of the Oct. 10 suicide bombing in the run-up to the snap elections on Nov.1. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an is the leader of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) movement, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci has said, adding that there is ?no point? in arguing whether Erdo?an?s clout was felt over the recent congress of the AKP.

Changes made in the Central Executive Board (MYK) of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) have amounted to a substantial overhaul, as 11 newcomers were added to the board, empowered to assist the party leader, Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu, who was reelected as the party leader at a weekend congress.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli and the leader of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), incumbent Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu, are set to meet on Aug. 17 to decide whether to form a government or not with just around a week left until the expiration date of a 45-day deadline.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has called on all political parties to take a common stance for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to lay down arms only one day before a key meeting with the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) to conclude weeks of coalition talks.
