Two police officers under scrutiny for online posting

Two police officers in Attica are accused of forgery and defamation related to an online posting of a fake order attributed to a senior police official, the Civil Protection Ministry said on Wednesday. 

The senior officer became aware of the online post and issued a complaint on Tuesday, after which the two officers voluntarily appeared before the Internal Affairs Department.

€86.4 mln given to flood victims, so far

Victims of the September floods which mostly hit the region of Thessaly have received €86.4 million in aid thus far, the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry announced Tuesday.

The sum includes €4.24 million disbursed Tuesday, the ministry added.

There are 22,458 aid recipients, individuals and businesses alike.

112 emergency number mechanism to upgrade

The Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry is to propose a bill that will upgrade the operation and importance of the 112 emergency number.

In the context of restructuring civil protection to create an integrated crisis prevention and management mechanism, the ministry will be able to take preventive or emergency measures at a central level.

Very high risk of fire in the regions of Attica, Viotia and Evia on Thursday

There is a very high fire risk on Thursday in the regions of Attica and the region of Central Greece ( Viotia and the island of Evia), according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection at the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry.
