The Arab Republic of Egypt plays an important role in Romania's strategy to develop relations with states in Africa and the Middle East, being in fact Romania's main trade partner in the region.

The Greek Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned Friday's attack by a gunman on a Coptic Christian church and a Christian-owned shop near Cairo in Egypt that left 11 people dead.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Dec. 10 terror attack on a Coptic church in Egypt's capital that killed at least 25 people.

"We convey our condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in this heinous attack and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded," the Foreign Ministry stated on Dec. 11. 

A least twenty-five people have died and dozens have been wounded by a bombing in Egypt's capital Cairo, world media report.

Victims' bodies have been found inside St Peter's church, which is close to the St Mark Coptic Cathedral, according to the BBC.

The cathedral is the seat of the Coptic church head, Pope Tawadros II.

Romanian Orthodox Church Patriarch Daniel believes the killing by militants of the Islamic State group of 21 Egyptian Christians in Libya represents a sad proof of the use of religion as a pretext to justify terrorist acts.

Egypt launched air strikes on Islamic State (IS) targets in Libya in response to a video purporting to show the execution of 21 Egyptian Christians.

The air strikes, which were carried several hours after the release of the video, targeted training sites, camps and weapon storage areas, the BBC reports.

Egypt carried out air strikes against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) targets in Libya on Feb.16 after the jihadists posted a video showing the decapitation of 21 Coptic Christians, the military said.
