BRUSSELS - In a letter to a Croatian MEP who organised a conference about Croatia's WWII-era Roman Catholic cardinal Alojzije Stepinac in the European Parliament on Tuesday, the Serbian Mission to the EU expressed deep regret over the special highlighting of Stepinac in EP premises as he was a historical figure that opened "painful chapters of the past" in Serbia, diplomatic sources told Tanjug

Biofuels in the EU are deeply intertwined with global food and feed markets. As the EU discusses its future biofuels policy, their contribution to the bloc’s animal feed supply and impact on food prices have emerged as major battlegrounds between supporters and critics.

Croatian MEP Tonino Picula on Tuesday asked the European Commission to give Croatia funds and equipment to help it put out fires raging along the Croatian coast.

Besides seeking help from the EU's Solidarity fund, he urged Brussels to send fire-fighting equipment.

"NATO has excellent cooperation with Serbia"

BELGRADE, BRUSSELS -- NATO has excellent cooperation with Serbia, and respects its decision to not seek membership in the Alliance, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said.

He made the remarks during his address to the European Parliament (EP) on Monday.

European Parliamentarians have submitted 188 amendments to a draft resolution on Montenegro, which will be discussed on Monday, most of which urge Podgorica to resolve border and property disputes with neighbouring countries.
