An Istanbul court on June 14 sentenced main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Enis Berberoğlu on spying charges over a report on intelligence trucks bound for Syria.

Two opposition parties have condemned the detention of the editor-in-chief and more than a dozen journalists of daily Cumhuriyet early on Oct. 31, saying the move passes another threshold in pressure on dissidents by the Turkish government. 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) head Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu has called for the release of dozens of journalists being held in prison in Turkey, the state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
