According to the Cyprus News Agency, the United States asked the Republic of Cyprus to give its consent for an American military unit to be stationed temporarily on the island.

US Secretary of State Pompeo to visit Cyprus in January
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is planning a visit to Cyprus in early January as he returns from a trip to Asia, Cypriot media have reported.
EastMed deal to be inked January, no word on Italy yet

Commenting on a report in the Jerusalem Post over the weekend regarding the "deportation" of an Israeli research ship near Cyprus by the Turkish Navy last month, a Cypriot source told the Cyprus News Agency on Monday that it had no part in the decision.
The incident occured on November 18, the official said.

Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides is on a working visit to Washington, where he will also meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday.

CMP recovers human remains in north Nicosia
The remains of two individuals were exhumed on Thursday in north Nicosia, with mixed reports saying an aerial photograph taken in 1965 showed suspected graves while others have not ruled out some of the bodies might belong to missing persons from 1974.

Greek jets fly over Larnaca in joint military drill
Two Greek F-16 jets flew over Larnaca's Kalo Chorio firing range on Thursday morning, while a training exercise of the Cypriot National Guard was in progress.
According to Cyprus News Agency, this is the final phase of a training exercise dubbed "Steel Arrow," where armoured passenger transport vehicles were put to the test.
