Dallas police are continuing their investigation into a shooting outside a busy mall in Allen Township that left eight people dead.

On Saturday alone, 11 people were killed and at least 20 were injured in shootings in the states of Texas, California and Mississippi.

President Donald Trump said on June 11 he would pursue an executive order to encourage police departments to meet "current professional standards for the use of force," while accusing Democrats of broadly branding police as the problem.

Dallas police say officers are responding to a possible active shooter situation at an office building in the north of the city. Police have provided no other details, including whether any shots have been fired or any injuries were reported in 911 calls Monday morning.

The FBI will participate in the investigation into the death of an unarmed black Texas college football player who was fatally shot by a white officer during a burglary call at a car dealership, a suburban Dallas police chief said on August 8.
