Eurostat: 13.4 million Germans live below the poverty line
According to Eurostat statistics released to the Bundestag at the request of parliamentarians from the German political party The Left, 13.4 million Germans live below the poverty line.
Germany says overestimated migrants with fake Syrian passports
The proportion of people entering Germany with fake Syrian passports is far less than the 30 percent announced by the interior minister in September, the government has said.
Germany has to date maintained an open-door policy for Syrians escaping their country's bloodshed, giving them "primary protection" -- the highest status for refugees.

Varoufakis says meeting with Schaeuble 'very helpful'
Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis described as ?productive? and ?extremely friendly? his discussion with his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble in Berlin on Monday.
?Dr Schaeuble and I had a long productive conversation,? said Varoufakis after their meeting. ?We were not negotiating, we were establishing common ground.?
Vice-Chancellor Gabriel calls Greek govt's reparations request 'stupid'
German Economy Minister and Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel wasn't too impressed with a calculation of German war reparations tallied by the Greek government, calling the demand a less than tactful "stupid".
