Interior Ministry's Secretary General Zhivko Kotsev Resigns

The Bulgarian Interior Ministry announced on Thursday that Chief Commissioner Zhivko Kotsev, who serves as the Secretary General of the ministry, has submitted his resignation.

The 52-year-old Kotsev was appointed to this post on September 8 last year at the proposal of the Council of Ministers. He was the director of the regional directorate of the Ministry of the Interior-Sofia.

Evgeni Vasilev, Chief of Police in Bulgaria's town of Smolyan has been removed from office, Darik news website reports.

Disciplinary proceeding has been opened against Vasilev, and there is an ongoing inspection conducted in the District Police Directorate, deputy caretaker minister and former chief of police in Smolyan Kiril Hadzhihristev confirmed.
