Mosque construction halted in Istanbul grove, Üsküdar Municipality declares

Istanbul’s Üsküdar Municipality has decided to halt the construction of a small mosque next to the Validebağ grove, after activists continued to brave inclement weather by camping out on the site to prevent the cutting down of the grove's trees.

10 workers abducted by armed militants in Diyarbakır

A group of armed militants have abducted 10 workers from a local electricity distribution company, Doğan News Agency reported on Oct. 22.

The workers of the company were on duty near the Gürpınar village in a rural area of Silvan district when the road was blocked by a group of unidentified militants.

Istanbul hospital’s internal diseases service under quarantine due to mange epidemic

The internal diseases service of one of Istanbul’s largest public hospitals has been closed due to a mange epidemic, most likely caused by a subcontractor worker.

Göztepe Training and Research Hospital’s internal diseases department has been placed under quarantine and all patients have been transferred to other sections of the hospital after mange was detected in the service.
